LETTIE 2.0 · SLOW LETTERS

A letter you write today
lands tomorrow

Your letter really flies across a globe. It takes as long as the distance, and your pen pal reads it in their own language. A character instead of a selfie, a letter instead of a chat — pen pals from all over the world.

How it works

How it works

Four screens are enough. All of them are the real app.

  1. A letter flying over the globe

Release a letter into the sky

An envelope lifts off the globe and flies for as long as the real distance to the other city. You can watch where it is on the globe while you wait.

  2. Discover screen with floating envelopes

    Pick up a stranger’s letter

Letters released to no one in particular float by as envelopes. Open one you like, read it, reply — and a correspondence for two begins.

  3. Reading a letter with the translate button

    Translate with one tap

They write in their language, you read in yours. 70+ languages, with the original right next to the translation.

  4. Post office — stamp album and globe

Collect a stamp from every country

Countries your letters reach get painted on the globe, and their stamps land in your album. Draw a stamp and it's painted just for you, or pick from 103 country stamps in the stamp shop.

2.0

New in 2.0

We rebuilt the whole app and kept one rule: a letter should take time.

Delivery time by distance

Arrival time comes from the distance between the two countries. An hour or two within a country, about a day for the other side of the world. Watch your letter on the globe while you wait.

Discover — pick up released letters

Three new envelopes drift close once a day. Free is plenty; watch one ad a day for more.

AI translation, 70+ languages

Open a letter and there’s a translate button, original and translation side by side. The app itself speaks 70+ languages too.

Stamps painted just for you

Every stamp you draw is painted fresh, so no one else has the same one. The stamp shop has stamps from 103 countries to stick on your letters.

A character instead of a photo

Profiles start as pixel characters. Sixteen are free, and a selfie or a few words about your look becomes your own character in the same style. Your first one is free, and the photo isn’t kept.

Today’s introductions — no swiping

A few introduction cards a day. No scores, no endless swiping. If someone sounds interesting, you start with one letter.

vs Slowly

How is this different from Slowly?

Both are pen-pal apps where letters take as long as the distance. Where they split is how the first letter starts and how you read it.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is Lettie free?

Yes. Writing, picking up letters, translation, the sixteen base characters and your first custom character are all free. Gems are only for extras like unlimited conversations, stamp draws or a second character.

How long does a letter take to arrive?

It comes from the distance between the two countries. One to two hours within a country, a few hours to a neighbouring one, close to a day for the other side of the world. You can watch the envelope on the globe while you wait.

Can I have a pen pal without speaking their language?

Yes. Every letter has a translate button, and the original sits next to the translation. With 70+ languages, you write in yours and they read in theirs.

How do I get to know someone without photos?

A profile is a pixel character, a few interests and the letters themselves. A selfie or a few words about your look can become a character in the same style (the photo isn’t kept). You learn how someone thinks before what they look like.
